Case Study

Project: t Eemgoed Village Estate

Product: Husky 120 Pro, Imperial

Location: Oosterwold, Netherlands

Contractors:  Cepezed

Overview

Renowned Dutch architecture firm Cepezed played a key role in the delivery of a recent residential development in Oosterwold, the Netherlands - comprising of 82 homes and a number of communal buildings. The project was designed around a vision of creating a sustainable, car-free and social housing concept that encourages residents to connect with one another and the natural environment. P C Henderson’s Husky 120 Pro and Imperial sliding door systems were specified throughout the project.

Requirements

The brief required a design solution that supports connected living throughout each home. Although each house featured a unique layout, the overarching goal was to achieve seamless connectivity between spaces — whether connecting social areas such as the  living room and kitchen, or private spaces such as the bedrooms and bathrooms.
Space efficiency was also a key consideration. The homes required door systems that would maximise useable floor space without compromising functionality or aesthetics.
A further key project requirement was compatibility with the bespoke natural timber doors supplied by Rooks Interior. Reflecting the projects strong sustainability focus, the hardware needed to integrate seamlessly with the doors whilst complementing the natural design aesthetic.

Solution

Following a detailed review of the project requirements, Architectenbureau Ccepezed selected P C Henderson’s Husky 120 Pro and Imperial sliding door systems as the most suitable solution for the project based on product reliability and quality..
Both systems were incorporated throughout the homes to combine several layouts. The Husky 120 Pro, a high-performing sliding system designed for doors weighing up to 120 kg, was used in single-door applications to connect hallways and adjoining spaces. Its smooth, reliable operation helped create an uninterrupted flow between rooms while maintaining the clean, minimalist aesthetic of the project.
Complementing this, the Imperial system was incorporated into three-door layouts to provide enhanced flexibility within the homes.  Engineered to accommodate doors weighing up to 200 kg, Imperial offers a heavy duty bottom rolling system to enable larger openings to be created – allowing residents to easily adapt spaces to suit their needs. In addition, its ability to discreetly conceal the hardware contributed to the refined architectural aesthetic envisaged by the design team.

Rene van den Biggelaar, Business Unit Manager at P C Henderson Netherlands, commented:
“This project highlights the versatility of our product range at P C Henderson. Both the Husky 120 Pro and Imperial are among our most popular sliding systems, and they have been seamlessly integrated
into this development."
