Adam joined the research and development department at P C Henderson almost 5 years ago, working across the wide range of sliding and folding door hardware solutions the company offers. Whether it is new product development or making improvements to the existing product range, Adam is integral to the design process from early planning to releasing products to market.

To create Husky 120 Pro, Adam undertook a rigorous design process, that included a range review, gap analysis and commercial benchmarking. The design had to incorporate competitive and evolving market requirements with customer requirements and large-scale production capabilities. Several concepts were generated, which all had the aim of lowering the initial system friction, to ensure the product operated smoothly and quietly. The next stage was to make the product as user friendly as possible and finally, to modernize the appearance of the system.

The final concept, which balanced performance improvements with manufacturing viability, is easy to install, smoother running than comparable systems on the market and has an increased door weight of 120kg. Since its launch, over 18 months ago, Adam has continued to develop complementary products for the range, which are fully compatible with Husky 120 Pro. These include Husky 120 Pro Soft Close, Simultaneous Kit, Telescopic kits, Compact 120 Low Headroom Kit and SnapFit Fascia Kit due to be launched in Spring 2024.

“The original Husky straight sliding system has been a well-loved product at P C Henderson for many years, mainly because it is suitable for a wide range of applications and its simplicity makes it also suitable for the DIY marketplace. In terms of performance, Husky 120 Pro is a much-improved successor, which also takes inspiration from the original. It is an easy to install, reliable system, that also improves upon on the original with an increased weight capacity and anodized aluminium track. One of the challenges of Husky 120 Pro has been trying to make the product feel like a more premium system than its predecessor, but to keep the cost at a competitive level so it is still suitable for the vast range of applications the original was used for.”  – Adam Campbell, Senior Design Engineer.

Of the complete Husky 120 Pro Range, Adam’s favourite to work on was P C Henderson’s Compact 120 Low Headroom Kit, compatible with Husky 120 Pro and our premium straight sliding system, Soltaire. Adam comments “This product is vastly different from our original low headroom system and therefore provided a lot of challenges. The aim of this system is to make the gap between the top of the door and the bottom of the sliding door track as minimal as possible”. The system is suitable for doors up to 120kg in weight and for doors as slim as 30mm thickness.

“I enjoy that every project is different. We have a very wide range of products at PC Henderson with our systems having different purposes.” – Adam Campbell, Senior Design Engineer.

When Adam is not designing world-class sliding door hardware, he enjoys going for morning runs, cooking and spending the weekends with his young family.
