Take a Look at the P C Henderson Internal Test Facilities

At P C Henderson, we understand the importance of offering high performing, durable products that are built to last. As such, we strive to use the highest quality materials, efficient manufacturing processes and rigorous testing to ensure that our products are not only functional and aesthetic but will also withstand the test of time.

To support this, we continually invest in an on-site testing facility to ensure all products and components are tested in line with BS EN 1527:2019+A1+2021 standards before introducing them to the market.

BS EN 1527:2019+A1+2021 is a European standard that specifies the methods and requirements for building hardware for sliding and folding doors. The standard tests products against 9 elements including initial friction, durability, door weight and door size to measure wear and tear overtime, ensuring the hardware performs continuously under frequent use. The results are then reported using a 9-digit coding system.

During a P C Henderson product test, each system is installed into a rig with the maximum door size and weight capacity required. The system then undergoes a cycle test to determine how many times the door can open and close before any signs of failure occurs.

Chris Ward, Technical Development Manager at P C Henderson, commented, ‘We aim to test all products to achieve grade 6 – the highest possible grade - whereby the system has successfully completed a minimum of 100,000 cycles. This is the equivalent to opening a closing a door 5 times a day for 55 years, giving our customers peace of mind that they are purchasing a durable product with P C Henderson.’

The initial friction of the hardware is also measured during the test to determine the force required to open and close the door – with grade 3 offering the lowest required force. At P C Henderson, our popular products Husky 120 Pro, Pocket Door Pro and Huskyfold 30 have all achieved grade 3 to offer an exceptionally smooth running system.

The P C Henderson testing facility includes 8 testing rigs designed to test up to 8 sliding or folding hardware systems at any one time. This not only reinforces our dedication to product quality but also helps streamline our product launch process.

Chris continued, ‘Having an onsite capacity for product testing is a huge advantage to P C Henderson. We are able to test new products and prototypes quickly and easily without relying on the lead times of external suppliers. This helps speed up our product launch process and bring new products to the market quickly, whilst also ensuring our products are fit for purpose.’

The results of each product test can be found on the quality certificate available on each product page.
